Three types of use of lock nuts

The lock nut is a kind of nut widely used in machinery and other industries. Its working principle is to use the friction between the nut and the bolt for self-locking. However, the reliability of this self-locking under dynamic load will be reduced. In some important occasions, we will take some anti-loosening measures to ensure the reliability of the nut locking.

Three types of lock nuts are used:
1. It is a special lock nut, which needs to be used with a kind of lock washer.
2. Two same nuts are used to screw on the same bolt, and a tightening torque is added between the two nuts to make the bolt connection reliable.
3. There are threaded holes drilled from the outer surface of the nut to the inner thread surface (usually two, distributed at 90 on the outer surface), used to screw in small diameter countersunk screws, the purpose is to apply the thread A centripetal force prevents the lock nut from loosening. A lock nut with better quality on the market is inlaid with a small piece of copper on the inner surface of the nut that is consistent with the thread of the lock nut to prevent the radial jack screw from directly contacting the locked thread and damaging the latter . This kind of lock nut has gradually begun to be applied in the occasion of the shaft end locking of rotating parts, such as the anti-loosening of the bearing at the mounting end of the ball screw.
